The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description (Summer Positions ONLY) 8 Week Program June 23, 2025 – August 20, 2025
As a Facility Operations Assistant 1, you would:
1. Inspect, check, and patrol areas to detect vandalism or non-adherence to safety procedures, report
defects, possible hazards, or potentially dangerous conditions in the building and adjacent areas.
2. Perform general grounds maintenance tasks such as clearing sites, raking, emptying trash receptacles, picking up trash, etc.
3. Maintaining roads and sidewalks, removing trash, and other obstructions from the building and surrounding areas.
4. Load/ Unload trucks with debris, dirt, and other materials as needed.
5. Set up chairs, podiums, and related equipment for conferences, seminars, and special events, including loading and unload equipment as well as assemble and break downs of furniture and equipment.
6. Assist trades mechanics in performing the routine maintenances, and unskilled work such as carrying supplies and equipment, cleaning, loading and unloading shipments.
7. Clean buildings and facilities, which includes but is not limited to: vacuuming, mopping, and waxing
floors; emptying trash receptacles; washing lavatories and fixtures within; dusting and polishing wood
and metal fixtures as per OPWDD cleaning protocols.
8. Perform a variety of routine building maintenance tasks such as unclogging toilets and sinks, and
changing light bulbs and tubes.
9. Maintain an adequate supply of cleaning products, repair parts, etc. to accomplish their work.
10. May travel to other offices within the State or facility to pick-up or move equipment, supplies or
persons.
11. Perform other related duties as assigned by the camp manger.
12. Having the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Working knowledge of safety standards and procedures.
Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Knowledge of applicable residential building codes.
Basic computer skills preferred.
Valid NYS Driver’s License.

The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
There are no education or experience qualifications for this class. Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and be able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.

• All OPWDD employees must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Continued employment will depend on maintaining eligibility.
